I am so bad about posting and Mayhem was over a week ago but it was such a great time that I can't not post something.  Margaret Maron was guest of honor and Nancy Pickard toastmaster.  That alone was worth the trip.  But the committee decided to do something really special for my mother and everyone had their We Love Caroline buttons.  The look on my mother's face when I introduced her to Margaret Maron, who was wearing her button, will stay with me a long time.

There were wonderful panels and Kent Krueger showed why he is a great writer with some of his questions.  I particularly liked the one about fears and what to do with them.  My favorite moment though, might just be Craig Johnson's comment (and the look on his face!) after Nancy Pickard discussed one of my favorite weapons.  Nancy's heroine takes off her bra and uses it to strangle the villain.  Craig just sat there nodding, with a bit of a reminiscent look on his face, going, "Some men pay money for that."  It was priceless.

As always it was fun catching up with my Omaha friends, Sally, Lori, Tim, Mary Lu, Jo and Evelyn along with the whole library crowd.  And Mother, who turned 90 yesterday, had everyone singing happy birthday.  [personal profile] chickwriter was there as well and we had fandom moments with rubber ducks.

It was really special and I wish more friends could have made it.
